On Monday, 02, Cilla Tech Park promoted the event Operational Kick Off Genome Valley. The event, which was held at Jordana Bier Brewery, was attended by members of the innovation ecosystem of Guarapuava, as well as authorities of the region.
At the Kick Off, which is a meeting with the purpose of presenting the initial “kick off” of a project, the team that operates Genome Valley was presented. The Genome Valley had been in the implementation process for a while and now it is constituted and all the teams have been established and will start putting the plans into action.
The presentations started with the speech of Tsen Chung Kang from the Shunji Nishimura Foundation and Jacto Group, who presented the Genome Valley and the projections for the future. The president of the Guarapuava Cancer Research Institute, Ipec, Dr. David Livingstone Alves Figueiredo, talked about the Genomas Paraná Program and explained how medicine is researching the human genome.
The CEO of Cilla Tech Park, Geri Dutra, presented the overviews of the park, the Genome Valley, and how the whole innovation ecosystem in the region, universities, companies, public and private initiatives, are working to foster innovation in the region. There was also a presentation by the Trade Association, which is engaged in this process, according to Géri, so that each representative is responsible for carrying out the actions, starting with research, the organization of the academic environment so that these researches take place and we have technologies that can later be transformed into businesses. “So that’s where the entrepreneurial part of the incubators, the accelerators, and the Cilla Tech Park come in, even the support so that, at the end of these business effectiveness validations, we have the support of the entrepreneurs so that this gains scale, becomes a large company, and is consolidated in the market,” says Géri.
During the keynote presentations, other important figures in the innovation ecosystem also spoke about the importance of development and organization for society to grow in an innovative way. The chairman of the board of Cilla Tech Park, Leonardo de Mattos Leão, emphasized the importance of the Genome Valley and the technology park. The executive director of Ipec, Robert Frederic Woolley, talked about the market potential and results that the research has brought. Superintendent Aldo Nelson Bona from the General Superintendence of Science, Technology and Higher Education and the mayor of Guarapuava Celso Góes, used the space to talk about the actions of the state and the municipality. The representatives of the five higher education institutions in Guarapuava also had space to talk about the importance of teaching and research being linked to innovative ideas.
