Last Friday, the 29th, the I Genomas Paraná Scientific Meeting was held at the Instituto de Pesquisa para o Câncer, IPEC.
During the event, which marked the beginning of the Genomas Paraná project: building the basis for Precision Medicine, several researchers presented what they have been developing in the area of genomic research, artificial intelligence and different areas related to science and technology.
“The participation and contribution of faculty researchers from different institutions in Paraná and other states is what makes this great project possible,” says PhD Isabela Medeiros de Oliveira, President Researcher and Scrum Master of Ipec.
The authorities present also showed how Guarapuava and the region have developed and have a great potential to become a reference for Brazil and the world. Genomas Paraná, according to researcher Isabela, fulfills the purpose of the Genome Valley by connecting academia, government and private initiative for the development in genomic research and Artificial Intelligence seeking to improve people’s quality of life.
One of the researchers present at the event, André Carlos Ponce de Leon is director of the Artificial Intelligence Recreating Environments program, IARA, which aims to develop research and technology in the areas of Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things, and according to him, one of the focuses now is to disseminate the work done by researchers, so that the population understands how it will benefit. “What will be done in the Genomas Paraná project, in the Genome Valley, will bring unimaginable social benefits, I am very excited and impressed with this event,” he says.
According to the CEO of Cilla Tech Park, Géri Dutra, the technological park works in a complementary way, it is part of the Genome Valley’s ecosystem, it is who is making the IARA project viable in the region and with the Genomas Paraná project, it will be able to connect startups that, from the database, will be able to act in the city creating new solutions for health, agribusiness and other areas related to innovation and technology.
